DORIAN - THE FUTURE?
Just a note here. Dorian is the 4th land-falling Cat 5 Atlantic Hurricane in the past 3 yrs. This is an extraordinary fact. Up till recently, a Cat 5 Hurricane was itself a rare occurrence. It appears now its the new normal. If so, and if their tracks keep taking these monsters over the land we have a very big problem developing.
As the oceans warm, that extra energy is in part fueling these Cat 5 hurricanes. Strikes me that since the warming trend is continuing, we'll see more and more Cat 5 storms. Areas along the Atlantic will look like they've been hit by an a-bomb just as parts of the Bahamas look today. The cost will be enormous.
