The Magical Realist Regime of Donald Trumpski

Trump’s regime reminds me daily of the writings of the Magical Realist novelists, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isabella Allende, Frank Kafka and the paintings of Frida Kahlo. Everyday we wake up to a world being created daily by Donald. One day he’s buying Greenland the next he’s in love with Kim I’ll Jong. Anything is possible in this place. Yet, it all seems skidding toward some inevitable disaster right up ahead.

  1. Trump doesn't really care about the details, the repercussions, or the implications of his activity. His concern is that something appears on TV well. He only cares about appearances, that the images seen by the world appear to be positive or meaningful. You could put a massive pleasant bucolic billboard sign up over the entrance to a garbage dump, and in Trump world that's all that's required because now people driving by see the billboard and not rusted out car piles. It is magical, it's all smoke and mirrors.
