The Bully Pulpit Trump style

The well known phrase “the Bully pulpit”was created by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1903 during his 1 st Administration. In the parlance of the day the word Bully had a positive meaning, it meant excellent. So he was referring to the Presidency as a Bully Pulpit or an excellent place to shape public opinion. Donald Trump sadly has changed the meaning to reflect to day’s meaning of the word to Bully to threaten or intimidate others. He has reduced the Presidency into negative Bully’s pulpit and is beating his political opponents & others with his power irregardless of public opinion. In fact the exact opposite of the use that President Roosevelt used it to make Progressive changes to American life. Trump is using it punishing and rewarding people publicly. He’s setting a dangerous precedent that bodes ill for our future. Teddy Roosevelt and his nephew Franklin Delano Roosevelt used its excellent place in public life to forward Progressive ideas and policies that greatly benefited everyone. Trump is using it for revenge and corruption and he’s doing it shamelessly. Sadly by our Inaction the rest of us are allowing it to occur.
